Mark Squires' E-Zine on Wine
THE PHOTO ARCHIVE.....Europe
The following are non-wine related shots from my non-French travels in
Europe. SO many places to visit, so little time.........

BACK to Main Photo Index
- Amsterdam canals,
2003: They say the canals in Amsterdam are not as
pretty as those in Venice, which is probably right, but try
this
night
shot. Or, a
basic
day shot. Amsterdam is also famous for its museums, and
the
Anne
Frank house, here the secret bookcase entrance to the
annex. All, November, 2003.
- Antwerp,
looking toward the Markt. November, 2003.
- Berlin at night, the Ku'dam at night, 1987.
July 2002 scan.
- Berlin, 1986: Checkpoint
Charlie, the
Berlin
Wall, and a
second
view. The bad old days. July 2002 scans.
- Berlin: Charlottenburg Palace, The Porcelain Room So-so
photo, 1986, but heckuva porcelain collection. July 2002
scan.
A more dramatic photo:
The
Oval Room
- Brugge: The
picturesque little town of Brugge in Flanders, from the
dramatic night view of the
main
square, to the big
Belfort
at night. Brugge is also known for its canals, here from
the
Beguinale,
and here with the
Belfort
in the background, and a
basic
shot with autumn color. Not to mention the beautiful
interior buildings, such as this
Gothic
room
from the town hall. All, November, 2003.
- Brussels,
La Grande Place, one of Europe's great squares. November,
2003
- Budapest, Fisherman's Bastion
ghostly night shot
amongst the old statues, 1986. Rescanned, June, 2002.
Probably my best Budapest shot.
- Budapest Panorama,
1991, focusing on bridge and castles, rescanned, 2002
- Budapest panorama, 1991,
probably the best Panoramic shot, over the Blue
Danube to Castle Hill. I got great night shots in Budapest.
Rescanned, July 2002. Here's a close
up: Budapest Castle at night
- Budapest Fisherman's Bastion reflected,
interesting reflection in mirrored wall of modern hotel.
Here's a more horizontal
version. Both rescanned, June 2002.
- Budapest sculpture reflections outside castle, one
and two.
Rescanned 2002. Since we're talking about mirrored
reflections...
- Budapest Panorama to
Parliament over the Blue Danube. 1986, rescanned, July
2002.
- Budapest: Castle Hill, at night, Mountainside,
1986. Rescanned, July 2002.

area, Church in the middle of nowhere, 2000
- Italy, Florence, Giambologna,
L'Architecturra, Bargello Museum (the spectator is
appropriately wide-eyed), 2000. The 2000 Italy shots were

- Italy, Street
in Montalcino, 2000

and two.
The first bears some resemblance to "Captain Picard"
of Star Trek fame.
